Patini Bungalows is a family guesthouse. Most of your requests could be satisfied if you let us the time...

AC / air conditioning

The bungalows don't have AC (air conditioning) because they are very well ventilated by the sea breeze and four big windows. Furthermore, they are built with materials (mud bricks and isolating layer on the roof) that keep the cool inside and the warmth outside. Each bungalow has a stand fan that you can move around where you need extra breeze.

Hot water

In each bungalow, hot water for the shower has been installed. It is switched on all the time.

Kettle, coffee tea maker

The bungalows don't have a kettle or coffee tea maker facility inside the room. The salty humidity damages them too quickly. This facility brings ants and takes space in the room. A kettle and tea and coffee powder are available in our shared kitchen. These tea and coffee powders are free of charge.

Two coffee machines, one for capsules and one for beans, are in our lounge in self-service. You will be able to drink ristretto, short espresso, long espresso, lungo and decaf. One dose from one of these coffee machines costs 500rs.

Refrigerator

We don't provide a refrigerator in each bungalow because the salty humidity would destroy them too quickly, they attract ants and take space in the room. Furthermore, they make noise, use a lot of electricity for one coke bottle and they smell bad if it is not used regularly. We have a spare mini fridge we could put in your room if it is highly necessary for you.

A shared fridge stands in the lounge near Patini's entrance. Cold drinks (soft drinks and water), ice cubes and ice creams are stored in it. These items are to sell in self-service. You can store whatever you like in this refrigerator.

Hair dryer

Two hair dryers are store in our amenity's cupboard at the entrance. They are not in the bungalow because only a few guests needed them and to avoid electric shock and save space in the bathroom.

Children

A toys room is available filled by our children's toys. They are now teenagers and I have kept all their toys from baby time. They are a boy and a girl. So, the toys cover all the needs… Your children will have fun and you will be able to enjoy your time.

Beds / Extra mattress / Number of people in one bungalow

The five bungalows are planned for 2 people. We can also accommodate families of three, four or five members (three small children) by adding extra foam mattress or baby cot. The single foam mattress is 90x180cm, 3x6 feet, for one child or two small children. The double foam mattress is 150x180cm, 5x6 feet, for two teenagers or three small children. The baby cot is for children under 2 years old. Each extra sleeping comes with a mosquito net. These mattresses are comfortable for children and youth. Some adults could have back pain to lay on foam mattress on the floor.

Only the bungalow C1 has two single beds (2x90x210cm, 3x7ft) we can separate for friends or join to make one double bed for couple. The four other bungalows have a double bed. C2, C4 and C5 have a double bed 165x210cm, 5.5xft. C3 has a double bed 150x195cm, 5x6.5ft.

The two bungalows C1 and C2 are enough big to add a single or a double size extra mattress on the floor. In C4 and C5, we can add only a single mattress on the floor but the bungalow becomes small. In C3, we can add only baby cot.

We don’t mind how many children or youth sleep in one bungalow. You need to pay only the extra sleepings. You can share your bed with your children free of charge. Extra children can sleep on the extra mattresses free of charge.

Garden / Beach

One private hammock and two lounge chairs are available under the palm trees in front of each bungalow.

The beach has many deck chairs, lounge chairs and hammocks to chill. Beach mattresses are available in each bungalow for a comfortable and relaxing beach time. Beach towels can be provided on request. Books, magazines and games are in our lounge to pass the time.

Beach games (balls, bats, cricket, badminton, rackets, sand toys, frisbee,…) are in our amenity's cupboard to enjoy your beach time!

Food / Drinks / Kitchen

We don't provide any meal, neither breakfast.

Cold drinks (no alcohol), tea, coffee, ice creams and biscuits are available in self-service.

Tea and coffee powders are available free of charge in our shared kitchen so you can prepare your own tea and coffee. Two coffee machines, one for beans and one for capsules are available in our lounge. You will have the choice to drink a short espresso, a long espresso, a ristretto, a lungo, a decaf, for 500rs per dose.

You can store your drinks, beers and others food in our common fridge in the lobby lounge.

You can use our basic kitchen between 8am and 9am to prepare a simple breakfast and from 5pm to 9pm to prepare a simple dinner.

A restaurant is available next door (100 m from your cottage) and many others nearby.

Lounge Lobby

At the entrance, the lounge lobby is a comfortable and common space to have a cool drink or ice cream taken from our shared refrigerator or a coffee from our coffee machines. Next to the lobby, you can use the kitchen to prepare a tea or a coffee (French press) or a light breakfast or dinner.

Books, games and toys are available to pass the time.

If you are curious about your surroundings, you will find many information leaflets and books about the nature, culture and activities. You can also chat with us to ask all your questions…

Wifi

Wifi is available in the entire property on all day and night. The router is shared with other guests. The signal's strength depends on the weather and other guests. After 5pm, the signal drops because all the tourists are back to their rooms to download their photos.

We encourage you to buy a Sri lankan SIM card (Dialog or Mobitel) for call, sms and internet (more than 90% coverage). Then, you can use Google maps, Google search, WhatsApp and other apps wherever you are in Sri Lanka. This card is sold in the Dialog or Mobitel outlets and also in the phone's shops. Your passport is required. Then, your phone can be used as a router/wifi provider (hotspot) for your laptop.

Laundry and ironing

We can wash your clothes. We need from 4 hours if it is sunny and windy to 24 hours if it is cloudy. We charge 400rs per kilogram + 20rs per piece because washing 1kg of denims or socks is not the same work!

We don't automatically iron the clothes. We hang them nicely that ironing is not needed. If you need, we can iron on request. We charge 200rs per tshirt and 400rs per shirt. Or you can do it yourself.

Entertainment

To pass the time, you will find several types of old-fashioned occupations for young and old, as books and magazines (French, English, German and other languages), board games, cards games, outdoor games (balls, bats, cricket, badminton, rackets, sand toys, frisbee,…), body board, sudoku. Many visits are possible around Tangalle to discover the Sri Lankan culture and nature. Some sports are also possible such as kayaking, bicycle, surfing, jogging and a long stroll along the beach at sunset or sunrise. Please, visit the activities page.

If you need relaxation, you can visit one of the several massage centers or individual masseuses or masseurs. They are about 300m to 1.5km from Patini. They provide ayurvedic full body massage, oil massages, aloe vera massage, face massage, feet massage, neck and shoulder massage, head massage, Sheerodhara, steam bath, ice bath. A ayurvedic doctor could be consulted.

Many cooking classes are organized where you will learn some techniques to cook the Sri Lankan Rice and Curry. Some of the classes will ask you which dishes you would like to cook. Some of them will take you to the market to choose the vegetables.

In case of rain, you will find some activities, such as sea bath, body board, massage, cooking class, visit a lace center, batik factory, pottery maker, visit Wewurukanala temple, watch a Bollywood movie, or just relax reading a book, sorting your thousand photos, playing a game, have a nap…

Quiet time

We have to set rules for noisy guests because it happened to a friend! People who stay at Patini likes to rest. So, we thank you for respecting the peaceful atmosphere of Patini at night (10pm to 6am). If you don't respect the other guests, if you disturb them (loud music, party, loud speaking, drum …), we keep the right to cancel your nights. You will have to pay the nights you stay plus one night. If you paid in advance, we will refund the money for the cancelled nights minus one night. Keep in mind that Patini is family friendly guesthouse. So, children noise can happen, usually during the day and school holiday (February, Christmas and August). Fortunately, Patini never had noisy guests. Everybody slept well until now. Help us to keep Patini quiet.

Taxi service

Daya can drive, pick up, drop off you with his comfortable AC car (Kia Sorento) where ever you like, for a couple of hours to a couple of days.

Our nephew Wasentha has a van (maximum 7 people) to drive you wherever you like and for tour.

We can call a tuk tuk or give you some tuk tuk drivers' numbers.

Parking

You can park your vehicle on the meadow other side of the road. It is a safe place. Many people parked their vehicle there for many years.
